  1. 01Choose the task and who practices it.

Define the supplier, movement, response, or finance task. Select focused guided practice or a governed team exercise with the appropriate plan and participants.

Why we want to partner

Different responsibilitiesneed different practice.

Training duties follow the role, traceability knowledge varies by function, and record exchange is best tested in a defined exercise.

Duty-appropriate training

FDA’s preventive controls rule requires people who manufacture, process, pack, or hold covered food to be qualified for their assigned duties, with food hygiene and safety training appropriate to those duties.

A receiving clerk, a supplier reviewer, and a recall lead practice different decisions. A software exercise supports that practice; it does not by itself qualify anyone.

Cross-functional knowledge

IFT’s Global Food Traceability Center describes separate traceability courses for plant staff awareness, cross-functional managers, and traceability plan design.

Different audiences need different depth. Guided practice on the records each function uses can complement that learning; it is not an IFT course or an IFT-approved program.

IFT Enterprise Traceability Education Suite · IFT press release, January 9, 2024

Exercising the exchange

In tabletop exercises held from March 9 to April 1, 2026, FDA simulated a traceability records request. Most firms responded within 24 hours, coordination drove the strongest results, and some data-element challenges remained.

A defined exercise shows where records and coordination break down. The debrief should name those gaps, not only the time taken.

Capabilities

Practice each decision.Across the four workflows.

Start from the supplier record

Practice finding the supplier notice and receipt behind an ingredient. Reviewing insurance, certification, scanning findings, and renewals is its own task.

Review the evidence behind a claim

Inspect the exported events and their open questions. A claim review adds quantities, rates, partial approval, and credit or deduction matching, never assuming payment.
